Shirley Langer
Shirley Langer, beloved mother, matriarch, and friend, died on Oct. 12, 2022 in Milwaukee, at age 94.
Timeless and full of life, Shirley maintained a rare poise until the end. She balanced profound devotion to her family, dedication to strengthening the Jewish community of Milwaukee, and ceaseless support for her friends in need.
Soon after graduating Washington High School in 1947, she met her adoring husband, Jack F. Langer, and they started a family. She got involved with local schools, where she volunteered and served as president of the 53rd Street PTA. Later, she worked in human resources and then established her own gift store in Cudahy, Langer’s Hallmark. No matter what she did, she was always the best dressed woman in the room.
She will join her departed husband of 62 years, Jack Langer, along with her parents, Jack and Muriel (née Brown) Abrams, and her beloved sister, Faye Bernstein. Shirley lived through many tribulations, but she never stopped counting her blessings or wishing good fortune to those in her life. “From my mouth to G-d’s ears,” she would often say, and indeed, she did seem to have a direct line – such was the fullness of her life. In her later years especially, she was nourished by the naches of her children, grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is dearly remembered by her children Julie and Barry Karp, Jeff and Patti Langer, and Daniel and Sharon Siegel Langer, and her grandchildren Jonathan and Amy Ansfield, Aaron and Romy Langer, Bench Ansfield and Nataliya Braginsky, Marci and Jesse Masur, Michelle and Sarah Langer, and her loving cousin Marshall Gantzarow.
Graveside service held Oct. 14, at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery. Rabbi Cheski Edelman officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Shul Bayside, Friendship Circle, Chabad Madison or the charity of your choice appreciated.
Morton S. Levin
Morton S. Levin died Sept. 24, 2022 at age 83.
Beloved husband of Harlene Levin (nee Cohn). Loving father of Russell (Joe), Marc (Heidi) and Neal (Jessica) Levin. Proud grandfather of Alexandra (Glen) Gaines, Emily Levin, Gavin Levin and Ethan Levin and great-grandfather of Jameson Aquino, Charlotte Gaines, Adelyn Gaines and Benjamin Gaines. Preceded in death by sister, Robin Dietlmeier. Further survived by other relatives and dear friends.
Graveside service held Sept. 29 at Second Home Cemetery, Milwaukee. Rabbi Joel Alter officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid or charity of choice appreciated.
Sheldon Saltzberg
Sheldon Saltzberg, Mequon, died Sept. 8, 2022. He was 84.
He was born Aug. 9, 1938 in Milwaukee, and a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. Past Master of Milwaukee Lodge. President of Mequon Square Condominium Association for 26 years. Owner of Village TV in Menomonee Falls for 40 years.
Sheldon loved to paint, especially pictures of rabbis and orchids. Sheldon also enjoyed fishing, a quality cigar and watching game shows and science fiction movies. He loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises both abroad and in the Caribbean. He made jewelry, too, and enjoyed speaking Yiddish. He was proficient at fixing just about anything!
Survived by loving wife Wendy (nee Schuckit) Saltzberg, sons Mitchell Saltzberg (Tracey Silverstein) Glen Saltzberg (Jordana Joseph) and four dear grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Joren and Jonah.
Burial was Sept. 11 at Anshe Lebowitz Cemetery. Blane Goodman Funeral Service assisted the family.
Mayta Schnoll
Mayta Schnoll (nee Turner) died on Oct. 10, 2022 at age 99.
Beloved wife of the late Milton Schnoll. Loving mother of Fred (Marilyn) Schnoll, Jerry “Bud” (Rhona) Schnoll, and Julee Cohen. Proud grandmother of Marc (Reneé Johnson) Schnoll, Danna (Yair) Nezaria, Jason (Corey Deocampo) Schnoll, Leslie (Kyle) Fitzpatrick, Daniel (Marisa Bragoni) Schnoll, Bekki Schnoll, Sara (Andrew) Crain, and Katie (Cody) Seaman and great-grandmother of Shelly, Mathew, Annie, Natalie, Skye, Julia, Logan, Austin, and Oliver. Preceded in death by dear siblings, Milton (the late Marjorie) Turner, Beatrice (the late Isadore) Seidel, and Ruth (Albert) Beder. Further survived by great-grandchild Austin, Elaina and Oliver, and by many other dear relatives and friends.

Melvin D. Solochek
Melvin D. Solochek, 82, of Sun City Center, Fla., died on Sept. 7, 2022.
Solochek was born April 25, 1940, in Milwaukee, to William and Mary Solochek. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1965 with a pharmacy degree and worked in the field for the next four decades. He owned a pharmacy in Milwaukee and ran an independent pharmacy buying group for Wisconsin and Illinois. Solochek married Leah Grotsky in 1964. They had two children, Jeffrey and Bari. They divorced 30 years later. He later married Roberta Tivin and moved to Florida. Melvin enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards with friends. He loved watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He later developed a passion for painting and served as president of the Sun City Center Art Club. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his children, grandchildren Isaak Solochek and Elle Lopez, brothers Harold and Albert, and other relatives.
