Carthage College, Milwaukee Jewish Federation, and others are holding an event, “Antisemitism in Our Community: What to know, how to help,” on Thursday, April 7, 7 p.m.
Speakers are to include Rabbi Dena Feingold, Kenosha Beth Hillel Temple; Kenosha Alderman Jack Rose; a representative from the Anti-Defamation League; and several representatives from the Federation.
The Kenosha event is in response to “a proliferation of antisemitic flyers posted around the city,” according to promotional materials. It is an opportunity to “learn and take action,” according to organizers.
The event will be held live at Todd Wehr Center, Room Jockey B, 2001 Alford Park Drive, Kenosha. It will also be live streamed at: Live.carthage.edu.
Feingold is to present on, “Who are the Jews?” Director Kai Gardner Mishlove and Program Associate Allison Hayden, of the Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council, are to speak on the history of antisemitism, a new audit of antisemitic incidents and current trends. Federation Director of Security & Community Properties Ari Friedman is to address community security. Samantha Abramson, director of the Federation’s Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center, will speak on “What we can learn from the Holocaust and other genocides.” David Goldenberg will represent the Anti-Defamation League – Midwest Region and will speak on national trends and resources.
