RUACH, a Milwaukee-based Jewish arts and music organization, is presenting “Jewish Voices,” a high-quality virtual presentation by French violinist Arnaud Sussmann.
The presentation combines about 60 minutes of Holocaust-inspired recital with a brief personal and educational discussion based on Sussmann’s grandfather’s experience in the Shoah.
A live post-concert question and answer session with Sussmann will follow via Zoom. The presentation will premiere on Sunday, May 23, 2021, and will be available on-demand through Sunday, May 30, 2021. The Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation, Beth Israel Center in Madison, Congregation Shalom, Lake Park Synagogue, Mt. Sinai Congregation of Wausau, and the Nathan & Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center are co-sponsors of this program. Arnaud Sussmann is represented by Sarah Dinin, Director of the Milwaukee-based Dinin Arts Management & Consulting.
Sussmann has appeared with major orchestras including the American Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, New World Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Paris Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony, and the Vancouver Symphony. Winner of a 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant, he has distinguished himself with his unique sound, bravura, and profound musicianship, according to a news release. Minnesota’s Pioneer Press writes, “Sussmann has an old-school sound reminiscent of what you’ll hear on vintage recordings by Jascha Heifetz or Fritz Kreisler, a rare combination of sweet and smooth that can hypnotize a listener. His clear tone [is] a thing of awe-inspiring beauty, his phrasing spellbinding.”
