The former Sarah Chudnow is now Terova

Marcus Investments is now operating the former Ovation Sarah Chudnow as Terova Senior Living.

Senior care has grown more costly, with changes in how government and care services interact, and Ovation Communities decided to sell Ovation Sarah Chudnow, according to Ovation Communities CEO and President Michael Sattell.

Sattell has said that he could not have found a better organization to take on Ovation Sarah Chudnow. Marcus Investments is a project of the Marcus family, who are longtime philanthropists and community advocates in Jewish Milwaukee and elsewhere.

The decision was made before the advent of the coronavirus changed the nation, as reported previously by the Chronicle. Ovation Communities continues to operate two senior living centers with a Jewish emphasis – Ovation Jewish Home and Ovation Chai Point, both in downtown Milwaukee.

Terova Senior Living is in Mequon. Marcus Investments has partnered with Health Dimensions Group to provide management and oversight of the community. The communitys new website is TerovaSeniorLiving.com.

Marcus Investments also owns senior living communities in Indiana and Ohio.

Here’s a Q&A with Terova Senior Living’s executive director Adrianne Stupar, lightly edited for space. Stupar said the facility is offering dietary options and is following a pandemic response plan

Q: Has anything changed for residents since the transfer?

As part of the Marcus family, Terova Senior Living has introduced residents to a fresh approach to senior living inspired by the family’s hallmark — superior hospitality. By incorporating excellent dining options, unsurpassed customer service, and the availability of compassionate care, Terova Senior Living is a unique community with innovative amenities and programming.

At Terova, we believe aging is a state of mind where we are open to new experiences, embrace lifelong learning and understand the rewards of living life to its fullest. We encourage residents to embrace a lifestyle full of activity and socialization and take part in our endless opportunities for growth.

Q: Have you retained any of the Jewishness?

Terova Senior Living’s service philosophy is grounded in the principle of hospitality and inclusion — warmly welcoming everyone to live and thrive in. We honor and lift up those from all faiths, including the Jewish residents who joined our family as part of this acquisition.

Q: Is it kosher?

Our menu options have changed to incorporate a wide variety of preferences, dietary needs, and tastes. Whereas we are no longer completely kosher, our residents have plenty of options available to maintain their dietary preferences.

We now are home to award-winning Executive Chef Angela Rondinelli. She has served as a culinary professional for more than 20 years, five of which were spent leading teams as executive chef in fine dining and catering establishments throughout Wisconsin. Angela has brought her flair for creative cooking and superb customer service to our senior living community.

Q: Are you accepting new residents? What kinds of residents do you serve?

We do have apartments available and are able to safely host socially distanced, private tours. To schedule one, please call Director of Sales and Marketing Lisa Schroeder: 262478-1534. To digitally visit our beautiful location and see a 3D tour of one of our most popular apartment homes, visit: TerovaSeniorlLving.com/photo-gallery.

Our community offers a variety of lifestyle options, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care to serve each resident’s needs and preferences. We believe by taking care of some everyday responsibilities— like cleaning and cooking— and lending a hand if a little more help is ever needed, we empower residents to design their own lifestyle.

Q: What are you doing about any isolation issues?

Our life enrichment team, led by Director Malia Fischer, thoughtfully plans and hosts meaningful events and activities to ensure our residents are fully engaged while practicing social distancing.

In addition, we’re committed to offering visitation that supports each resident’s physical, mental, psychosocial well-being, and quality of life. Visitation may be conducted through different means based on our county and community COVID-19 positivity rates as well as residents’ personalized needs. We’re available to help schedule a safe visit that aligns with state and federal guidelines.

Q: What are your COVID-19 precautions?

At Terova Senior Living, our priority is to keep everyone safe and healthy. We have a comprehensive COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Response Action Plan designed to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and state and local health officials to protect our residents and staff from this virus. This plan includes:

  • Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment;
  • Screening and monitoring of residents, staff, and visitors for symptoms;
  • Testing residents and staff based on federal and state guidance;
  • Quarantining COVID-19 positive residents with dedicated staff to provide care;
  • Taking environmental safety precautions, such as disinfecting high-touch surfaces;
  • Adhering to safe visitation procedures; and
  • Assuring safe congregate dining and group activities.
