Neena B. Florsheim, a local member of the Jewish community, is holding a coat drive, sponsored by no organizations – just her.
“The reason I’m doing this is because as a mother and a grandmother I know there are going to be people who are not going to have coats this season,” she said. “People have lost their jobs.”

Florsheim did this once before, about ten years ago. She said she plans to turn the coats over to an inner-city nonprofit.
“I think there are people who may not vote if they don’t have a coat,” Florsheim said. “Anyone who wants to vote in person and doesn’t have the appropriate coat may not go.”
Florsheim is asking for gently worn but clean coats and jackets for children through adults, both for males and females. Only coats and jackets are requested; nothing else will be distributed.
“These coats and jackets will be given to those in need without delay,” Florsheim said.
Drop off is Saturday and Sunday, Oct 10-11, between noon and 3 p.m. Florsheim asks that items be brought in clean bags.
Bring the items during these designated times only to the office of Dr. Neena Florsheim, Human Development Consultants, 1317 W. Town Square Road (across from Sendik’s Food Market).
