Annual Meeting 

The Milwaukee Jewish Federation invites the community to its 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting from 7-8 p.m. on Sept. 3. Its more important now than ever to find connection as a community. Attend MJFs Virtual Annual Meeting to celebrate accomplishments, to learn about the challenges facing Milwaukees Jewish community, to do a little business, and to see just how much stronger we are together. Breakfast for Israel 

Join the Jewish National Fund on virtually Sept. 3 at 8 a.m. for its annual Breakfast for Israel.  The free event is chaired by a multi-generational family that is passionate about Israel and committed to the Jewish community. Debbie and Dick Alpert, Hannah Sattler, and Mara and Matt Kleiman put on the program featuring guest speaker Yonatan Winetraub, co-founder of SpaceIL. The $100 million Israeli nonprofit is known for its attempt to land Beresheet, the first private interplanetary robotic mission, on the Moon. With the unprecedented situation impacting countries across the world, we need to support the land and people of Israel now more than ever. This is Real

Date with a Plate 

After Breast Cancer Diagnosis will hold its first online event, Date with a Plate, on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. While this year’s gala may look different, the goal of raising awareness and support for breast cancer patients and their families remains the same. Tuesday, Sept. 8 

Judaic Art & Mastery 

Judaic Art & Mastery class on Sept. 8 at 4 p.m., with the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center. This is a two-session series, with the second session on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. Create unique and beautifully hand-made challah cutting boards and challah covers that you will be able to use and admire at your Rosh Hashanah meal. 48 Hours in 60 minutes

Modern Israel  

Join Community Shaliach Uria Roth for a portion of his Unknown Stories in Modern Israel series. Uria will share multimedia presentations during his lectures, followed by open dialogue with attendees. Sept. 10, 5 p.m. Theme: Theater & Culture.Bringing Israel’s BestKnown Playwright — Hanoch Levin — to a Worldwide Audience.” Hanoch Levins funny and provocative plays established him as one of Israel’s greatest playwrights. He set out to make his Israeli audiences squirm in discomfort, and the latest translations to English-language audiences brings his work to a world stage. Young Challah Bake 

Join the Young Jewish Professionals on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. for Challah Bake, virtual edition. Knead, braid, connect and learn a new twist on this age-old tradition. Memory project 

Friendship Circle of Wisconsin holds photo exhibit opening, Zachor: The Holocaust Memory Project, on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at Surlow Promenade Gallery at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay. Use the West entrance. JCC visitors should be prepared to show ID. 

Virtual book club  

The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center holds a virtual book club on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. This month’s book is Born Survivors.” In 1944, three young women were torn from their husbands in eastern Europe. With their families killed by the Nazis, these young wives were determined to hold on to all they had left their lives and those of their unborn babies. Holocaust survivors Hana Moran and Mark Olsky will share their mothers harrowing experiences during the Holocaust. This free virtual program can be viewed live at Facebook.com/HERCmilwaukee.

Song and spirit

Museum art opening 

Opening of Luba Lukova: Designing Justice. Sept. 16, 7-9 p.m. Join Luba Lukova live from her New York City studio for a virtual artist talk. She will discuss her creative process and inspiration for the works in the Designing Justice exhibition and tell you with images what she thinks about our world now. She will answer questions after the presentation. Join the museum in virtually celebrating the opening of this important art exhibit which explores topics of importance today. A pickup basket of Lukovadesigned note cards, “History Matters bumper stickers, sweet treats, two glasses of wine and more is included in the ticket price.
