Interlaken will not hold overnight camp this year

The Steve & Shari Sadek Family Camp Interlaken JCC will not be holding overnight summer camp this year, according to the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, which operates the camp.

“We have not made any definitive decisions about any other JCC summer programming: early childhood education, youth services, day camp, water park, or onsite programming,” wrote JCC President & Chief Executive Officer Mark Shapiro, in an email. “Our teams are actively working to understand how we can return to safely and sustainably delivering these programs and hope to have updates for you in the very near future.”

The decision to not hold overnight camp was based on available guidance from government and expert leaders, according to the JCC.

Other organizations around the nation have also announced that there would be no in-person overnight camping this year, including the Reform movement’s Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute in Oconomowic.

The JCC’s camp Interlaken is in Eagle River.
