Steven Bernstein

Steven Bernstein of Mequon died on March 30, 2020. He was 69.

Beloved husband of Sharon Bernstein (nee Bobrow). Cherished father of Jada Miller and Aaron (Missy) Fiul. Loving grandfather of Zachary and Samantha Miller. Dear brother of Carol (Sheldon) Glusman, Nat (Peggy) Bernstein and the late Joseph (Audrey) Bernstein. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many dear friends.

A graveside service was held on April 2 at Spring Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Noah Chertkoff. The family was assisted by Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions made to Congregation Shalom or American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Murium Elizabeth Fine

Murium Elizabeth Fine (nee Corso) of Brown Deer died on Feb. 27, 2020. She was 85.

Survived by dear husband, Paul R. Fine. Cherished mother of Lori R. Mueller and the late Brad H. Fine. Proud grandmother of Darren (Nicole) Fine, Kenneth Mueller and Daniel Mueller and great-grandmother of Zoey, Soren, Calen, Cruz and Pierce Fine. Further survived by other dear relatives and friends.

The funeral was March 3. Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery. Rabbi David Cohen officiated. Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorial contributions to Congregation Sinai or the charity of your choice are appreciated.

Sally Goldman

Sally Goldman (nee Bernstein) of Milwaukee died on April 6, 2020. She was 91.

Preceded in death by beloved husband Edwin Goldman for 68 wonderful years. Cherished mother of Diane (Richard) Kane, Philip (Renae) Goldman and Karen (Fred) Meyerson. Loving grandmother of Ryan Kane and Adam (Susana Osorio Cardona) Kane, Natalie (Ben) Peterson, Joseph (Cassidy DeMayo) Goldman, and Jennifer (Thomas) Knowlton. Loving great-grandmother of Annabelle Knowlton and Edwin Peterson. Further survived by her brother Theodore (Sandy) Bernstein, her sister-in-law Harriet Goldman, many cousins, nieces and nephews, other loving relatives
and dear friends. Sally was preceded in death by her dear parents Jennie (Slate, Pivar) and Philip Bernstein, 3 older siblings, and many close friends, including mah jongg playmates and dinner companions.

Sally was a census taker in the 1960 census, data collector for the US Department of Labor, bookkeeper for the City of Milwaukee and Sally’s Steak House, and market researcher. In their retirement, Ed and Sally became experts at finding collectibles at rummage sales and selling them at flea markets and on eBay.

Her family would like to thank her wonderful friend Sheila Manhoff, the staff of Helen Bader at Ovation Jewish Home, Optum Nurse Practitioner Elena Akselrud, and Dr. Nancy Reeder for their care and concern.

A graveside service was held at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 8. The service was officiated by Rabbi Noah Chertkoff. The family was assisted by Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home. A memorial will be held on a later date. Memorial contributions to the Wisconsin Humane Society would be appreciated.

Eileen Gray

Eileen Gray of Shorewood, died on March 14, 2020. She was 86.

Preceded in death by husband Sidney. Loving mother of David (Dresden) Gray and Jodee (Danny) Michell. Proud grandmother of Jaimee Michell, Noah and Sasha Gray. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held March 16 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery, with Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiating. Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice are appreciated.

Kurt J. Jacobsohn

Kurt J. Jacobsohn of Shorewood, died on April 2, 2020. He was 88.

He is survived by beloved wife, Miriam R. Jacobsohn (nee Pasch). Cherished father of Tamar S. and Daniel S. (Gwendolyn H. C.) Jacobsohn. Loving grandfather of Eva S. and Zev L. Armour, Maxwell D. C. Jacobsohn and Theo E. C. Jacobsohn. Dear brother of Gertrud Klimowski. Preceded in death by parents Siegfried and Eva Jacobsohn (nee Schocken). Jay S. Kaufman, M.D.

Kaufman, Jay, M.D. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2020. Survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Ingrid (Tegtmeyer) Kaufman. Dear father of Tiffany (Eric Tackett) Kaufman and Joshua (Samantha) Kaufman. Loving grandfather of Nicholas Scanna. Cherished brother of Lynne (Dr. Charles) Bomzer and Jill (Robert) Youman and brother-in-law of Cindy Tegtmeyer. Further survived by other adored family and friends and his darling dog Coco. Preceded in death by his parents Yetta and Kiesl Kaufman, M.D. and in-laws Helga and Gunther
Tegtmeyer.

Jay was passionate about his family, medicine and skiing in Lake Tahoe. He cared very deeply about his patients and their well-being during his 35+ years as a Cardiologist. Jay was a great teacher, loved intellectual sparring, had an amazing sense of humor and always had a sparkle in his eyes – being with Jay was always an incredibly good time.

Private services will be held. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association or charity of your choice.

Mildred Pack

Mildred Pack (nee Warren) died on Feb. 28, 2020. She was 90.

Beloved wife of the late Sam Pack. Cherished mother of Brian (Harriet) Pack, Mark (Barbara) Pack, Carol (Autumn) Gad and Debbie Elliott. Proud grandmother of Spencer (Michelle) Pack, Evan Pack, Stacy (Geri) Goldman, Kevin (Deena) Pack and Scott (Lisa) Gad and great-grandmother of Samuel and Matthew Pack; Leora Goldman; Aliyah, Shirah and Eliahu Pack; and Avi and Shira Gad. Further survived by other relatives and dear friends.

Mildred ‘Honey’ Pack graduated from Milwaukee’s Washington High School in 1947 and was the first resident of the University of Wisconsin’s Elizabeth Water dormitory.

She and her husband Sam operated the Artistic Rug and Furniture Cleaners for several years. With her strong background in math she was a research analyst for Baird Wealth Management and programmed the newly marketed Apple IIe to publish the company’s yearly prospectus. She received her Wisconsin real estate license and worked for a local realtor for several years. She loved animals, adopting four beagles during her lifetime and supported animal advocacy groups. She was an avid bridge player and follower of all Wisconsin sports teams.

She was a constant source of love and support for her five grandchildren and took a special interest in her eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted March 2 at Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home. Interment followed at Mound Zion Cemetery. Rabbi Wes Kalmar officiated the service. Memorial contributions to the Wisconsin Humane Society or Chabad Lubavitch of Wisconsin Judaism at Home Program are appreciated.

Noreen Schoenemann

Noreen Schoenemann (nee Korman) of Milwaukee died on April 12, 2020. She was 82.

She is survived by children Susan Thompson, Lynn (David Wilson) Schoenemann, Cyndy (Jon) Wolfenbarger. Loving grandmother of Laurel Thompson. Also survived by brother Marc (Melanie) Korman, niece Beth, nephew Scott and other relatives and friends.

A private internment was held at Second Home Cemetery on April 17. Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated the service. Suminski/Weiss Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorial contributions to Susan G. Komen are appreciated.

Dr. Martin J. Steigman, PhD.

Dr. Martin J. Steigman, PhD, of Lincolnwood, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 19th, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Flora Steigman (nee Symons) of almost 64 years. Devoted father of Jason (Dori Frankel) Steigman of Shorewood, WI, Brian Steigman, and Pamela (Ardith Zucker) Steigman. Cherished grandfather of Ben Steigman, Natan Steigman, and Zaria Zucker-Steigman. Dear brother of Diana (Joe) Esposito and Joan (Joel) Kessler. Dear brotherin-law of Laura (Alvin) Epstein, the late Judith (late Berton) Goldwater, and the late Gerald (Diane) Symons. Preceded in death by his mother, Helen (nee Hecht) and father, Samuel Steigman. Further survived by many loving relatives and friends. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he graduated from Brooklyn College.

He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas in Austin. Professionally, he was an esteemed professor at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago where he retired in 2001 after a 33 year career. He also built a private practice as a clinical psychologist, working tirelessly to guide his cherished clients until 2018 at the age of 84. Long time member of Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation. Long time volunteer for The Ark Chicago. Marty was a self proclaimed song and dance man. When he wasn’t singing as a proud member of the Skokie Concert Choir and various barbershop choirs over the years, he and Flora could be found dancing with friends at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. A die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan in his youth, he became a devout Chicago sports fan, cheering on the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls with his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Brain Tumor Association or The Ark Chicago would be appreciated. Due to the current public health situation, graveside services are private for family. A memorial celebration of Martin’s life will be held at a future date when it is again safe to gather together.

Janice E. Zamsky

Janice E. Zamsky (nee Appel) of Milwaukee died on February 28th, 2020. She was 90.

She is survived by dear husband William Zamsky. Loving mother of Jackie (Steve) Blumberg and Eliot (Tina) Wasserman and stepmother of Susan (Hungsun) Hui and Jill Zamsky. She is further survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held on March 5 at Congregation Shalom, followed by interment at Mound Zion Cemetery. The service was officiated by Rabbi Noah Chertkoff.
