Local event with educator from Italy postponed

Mequon Jewish Preschool is postponing an educational development opportunity, due to the coronavirus.

“We decided to err on the side of caution,” said Rivkie Spalter, director of Mequon Jewish Preschool. “It was really on the side of caution. We all see what’s going on in the news. We see the impact of the coronavirus.”

The professional development opportunity for educators, parents and community members — an evening with educator Paola Strozzi of Italy – was scheduled for March 19, 2020. It has been postponed to Oct. 29.

The learning session is to be in honor of Loris Malaguzzi’s 100th birthday, the founder of the Reggio Emilia approach to early education.

“Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus outbreak, we need to postpone our big HAKHEL,” or assembly, Mequon Jewish Preschool stated in a news release. “We have rescheduled the evening community lecture. Mark your calendars and plan to join us for this exciting learning opportunity on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.”

The school will honor all current registrations, which have come from all over Wisconsin.

“I think it’s an amazing opportunity foour community,” Spalter said.
