Scholarships for summer camp and more

Summer camp and other opportunities for youth can get expensive. Did you know help is available?

Young people interested in summer camp assistance or scholarships have got resources in the local Jewish community. Here’s a list of some of what’s available:

  • Need-based scholarships. These are Jewish Community Foundation need-based scholarships facilitated by the Coalition for Jewish Learning of Milwaukee Jewish Federation. The awards are to help send young people to summer overnight camps and Israel. Learn more at: MilwaukeeJewish.org/Scholarships or contact Tziporah Altman-Shafer, TziporahA@MilwaukeeJewish.org or 414-963-2718. Application deadline: Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020.
  • One Happy Camper Grants. This program provides grants of up to $1,000 for first-time campers at Jewish overnight camps. Day school students are not eligible. The grants are made possible by a partnership of the Jewish Community Foundation of Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Learn more at: MilwaukeeJewish.org/ OneHappyCamper or contact Anna Goldstein at AnnaG@MilwaukeeJewish.org or 414-390-5733.
  • Kesselman Israel scholarships. The Sara B. and Louis M. Kesselman Israel Program Scholarship Fund offers scholarships for young people interested in studying or traveling in Israel. The fund is with the Federation’s Jewish Community Foundation, facilitated by the Federation’s Israel Center. The scholarships allow Jewish post-high school students to spend a semester or longer in Israel, helping them to strengthen their Jewish identity and build a lasting relationship with Israel. Available to residents of greater Milwaukee, ages 18-30, including Wisconsin college/university students. Programs must be approved. Applications are due April 20, 2020 for programs beginning April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021. To learn more and to fill out an application, visit MilwaukeeJewish.org/Scholarships or contact Allison Hayden at AllisonH@MilwaukeeJewish.org or 414-390-5724.
