New Years dance party

New Year’s Day Israeli Dance Party. Join the Milwaukee Israeli Folk Dance Group to start off the year with three hours of Israeli circle dancing (they typically do not do partner or line dances) and some schmoozing. Girls Challah Bake

Young Jewish Professionals Girls Challah Bake. It’s challah time! Join the ladies of Young Jewish Professionals Milwaukee as they knead, braid and connect. Israel Ride info session

The 2020 Israel Ride will be Oct. 27- Nov. 3, 2020. The bike ride is a beautiful way to see Israel, riding over the course of a week from Jerusalem to Eilat. This ride is a fundraiser for the Arava Institute, an organization of Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians studying together and finding solutions to environmental concerns in the region, while also learning each other’s narratives and building trust. Museum free for King Day

Celebrate the civil rights movement on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with Jewish Museum Milwaukee’s traveling exhibit, “Allied in the Fight: Jews, Blacks and the Struggle for Civil Rights.” On display for one day only. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and in partnership with Milwaukee Museum Week, Jan. 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m, admission is free for residents of Milwaukee County. Allied in the Fight explores the partnership between Jewish and black leaders in confronting systematic racism in the United States. The exhibit addresses black-Jewish collaboration and the complicated nature of Jewish contributions to the civil rights movement. MJDS ED Talk

This Ed Talk will be on “Growing Healthy Brains: Applying Current Neuroscience to Parenting,” on Jan. 21, 6:30-8 p.m. Milwaukee Jewish Day School, 6401 N. Santa Monica Blvd. These days, our culture seemingly is making it difficult for us to raise calm, flexible, patient and happy children. Clinical psychologist, Dr. Michael Mazius, will discuss how our children’s brains are structured, work and develop during their childhood and adolescent years and teach specific ways in which we, parents, from the start, can do right by our kids. An international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. Breast cancer support

Breast cancer patients, their families and friends are matched with professionally trained breast cancer survivors and co-survivors. All connections are personalized and based on similar diagnoses, treatment plans and circumstances. Services are free and begin with a phone conversation. ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis supports both patients and survivors. Friendship House Fellowship

A support group for Jewish men and women in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other substances. Requirements for membership are participation in a 12-step program (such as AA or Narcotics Anonymous) and a desire to recover. Meetings are Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at The Shul, 3109 N. Lake Drive in Milwaukee.

Jewish Grief Group
