Photojournalist Mark Hertzberg to explore Frank Lloyd Wright’s Penwern at the Central Library’s Rare Books Room. Meet Hertzberg, author of “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Penwern: A Summer Estate.” Hertzberg documents one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s lesser known but no less beautiful summer estates. Free. Madison talk: Restorative Justice

Program on “Criminal Justice and Restorative Justice: Reforming the System” withCarousel Bayrd, attorney and partner, Herrick and Kasdorf. Over the last 13 years, Bayrd has authored legislation addressing criminal reform, racial justice, immigrants’ rights, women’s rights and mental health services. Carousel’s talk will cover various facets of the criminal justice system – from policing to the courts to incarceration. Part of the Jewish Social Services Levy Summer Series, supported by Jeffrey C. Bud Selig book talk

A ticketed event with Bud Selig, author of “For the Good of the Game: The Inside Story of the Surprising and Dramatic Transformation of Major League Baseball.” July 11, 7 p.m. Sponsored by Boswell Book Company, Oconomowoc’s Books and Company, and the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. Held at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, 19805 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Selig candidly explores hot-button issues including the steroid scandal that threatened to destroy the game, telling his side of the story in full and for the first time. “The Flight Portfolio” with Julie Orringer. Holocaust film class

Holocaust film class July 22, 7 p.m., to feature “Shoah: The Four Sisters” (France) (2017). Award winning filmmaker Claude Lanzmann’s last film presents a personal look at four Jewish women who survived the Holocaust – filmed in the late 1970s but never released as full stories on film. The film, four hours in length, is divided for presentation into two evenings (see July 25). “The Hippocratic Oath” tells the story of Ruth Elias, a Czech young mother who was part of a Mengele experiment in which urged to save herself by killing her newborn child. In “The Merry Flea” viewers meet Ada Lichtman who was forced to work in Sobibor mending dolls taken from murdered Jewish children to be distributed to German girls. Suitable for ages 17 to adult. Madison: The Akedah

Presentation on “And the Fine Blade Gleamed with the Fury of Live Coals: Twentieth Century Poets Confront the Akedah” withLarry Kohn, education director of Temple Beth El from 1979-2014. The Torah’s story of the sacrificial binding of Isaac (Akedah) has been addressed by a number of 20th century American, Yiddish and Israeli poets. The Akedah (Genesis 22) will be read in English translation along with a sample of Rabbinic and contemporary Torah commentary. $18 per person. “Summer Evenings: A Musical Kaleidoscope.” Carolyn Wehner will perform her versatile songbook of traditional and contemporary songs as a part of Congregation Shalom’s summer concert series. Friendship House Fellowship

A support group for Jewish men and women in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other substances. Requirements for membership are participation in a 12-step program (such as AA or Narcotics Anonymous) and a desire to recover. Meetings are Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at The Shul, 3109 N. Lake Drive in Milwaukee.
