Israeli film class: ‘Foxtrot’

Israeli film class June 13, 7 p.m., to feature “Foxtrot” (Germany/Israel/Canada) (2017) Winner of eight Israeli Academy Awards (2017), including Best Picture. The film opens as an Israeli couple learns that their son has been killed in the line of duty – which is not as it seems. Action shifts to young Israeli soldiers bored in a remote checkpoint, circling back to the family as some devastating, unexpected truths are revealed. Chagall’s Le Cirque

The Opening Preview of Chagall’s Le Cirque will be June 13 from 7-9 p.m. Be part of a rare opportunity to experience Marc Chagall’s Le Cirque portfolio through the eyes of his granddaughter, Bella Meyer. She will present on the portfolio and share memories and insights about growing up with her renowned grandfather, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Sip wine and feast on a generous array of hors d’oeuvres. Experience a curator-led tour of Le Cirque and the companion exhibit celebrating the history and impact of the tradition that was Milwaukee’s Great Circus Parade. Pride Shabbat at CBINT

Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid extends a special welcome to the LGBTQ Jewish community for Pride Shabbat during a Shabbat morning service on June 15, beginning at 9 a.m. They will include prayers on the LGBTQ experience and ask God’s blessing on all of God’s children. Shabbat services at CBINT are followed by a light kiddush; all are welcome. There will be rainbow cake, of course. CBINT is led by Rabbi Joel Alter (openly gay) and Hazzan Jeremy Stein. 6880 N. Big Top Chagall Shebang

Join Jewish Museum Milwaukee and the Young Leadership Division of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation for family-friendly experiences exploring Chagall’s Le Cirque at the Big Top Chagall Shebang on June 23 from 1-4 p.m. Bring your ‘greatest showman’ for a day celebrating all things circus, with activities for carnies of all ages, including lessons in juggling, hula hooping and circus-inspired dance. Then get twisted with some balloon twisting, cirque makeup and a make-your-own-circus print workshop. The day will be complete with circus snacks like Cracker Jacks, animal cookies and circus peanuts. Installation of Rabbi Joel Alter

Interfaith Stonewall Seder

June 28, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City. Join J-Pride of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid and Grace Lutheran Church (ELCA) for an interfaith Stonewall Seder commemoration of this historic day. Breast cancer support

Breast cancer patients, their families and friends are matched with professionally trained breast cancer survivors and co-survivors. All connections are personalized and based on similar diagnoses, treatment plans and circumstances. Services are free and begin with a phone conversation. ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis supports both patients and survivors. Friendship House Fellowship

A support group for Jewish men and women in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other substances. Requirements for membership are participation in a 12-step program (such as AA or Narcotics Anonymous) and a desire to recover. Meetings are Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at The Shul, 3109 N. Lake Drive in Milwaukee.
