Roselyn Blumenthal

Roselyn Blumenthal, 94, of Mequon, died April 1, 2019. Born in Milwaukee. Loving wife of the late Arthur Blumenthal for nearly 66 years. Proud mother of Warren (Wendy) Blumenthal, Steven (Judy) Blumenthal and Robert (Robin) Blumenthal. Dear grandmother of Lauren Blumenthal, Michael (Julia Reeves) Blumenthal, Max (Kelly Cueto) Blumenthal, David Blumenthal, Ethan (Carley Gordon) Blumenthal and Erin (Keenen Peck-Valdivia) Blumenthal. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Tina Jaeckel for her loving care.

Sheldon Gash

Sheldon Gash, 84, of The Villages in Florida died March 15, 2019.

Shelly was a graduate of Washington High School and the University of Wisconsin ­– Madison. He worked in sales

Born Jan. 28, 1935 in Milwaukee, he is survived by spouse Helene Gash. They had a storybook marriage for 60 years. Shelly is survived by his children, Sheri Wolfe and husband Mark of Chicago, Morry Gash of Milwaukee, and grandchildren.

Phyllis Goodman

Phyllis Goodman, 98, of Tallahassee, Florida, died March 21, 2019.

She was predeceased by husband David S. Goodman in 2001. Survivors include children Kathy Hallowell, Laurie Horowitz and Ted Goodman.  

Phyllis attended Riverside High School and graduated in 1938. Later, she graduated from University of Wisconsin in both Madison and Milwaukee. She held master’s degrees in music and education.

She was a member of Congregation Emanuel B’ne Jeshurun and B’ne B’rith. She played harp for a year in the Milwaukee Symphony and also played in the Milwaukee Pops Orchestra. She worked as assistant to the dean for the school of education at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Special interests included music, playing the harp and piano, cooking and counselling students at the university level.

Burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rabbi Marc Berkson and Goodman-Bensman. Memorial contributions are welcome to Friends of Mogen David Adom or the U.S. Memorial Holocaust Museum.

Doris Jean Hoffman

Doris Jean Hoffman, 87, of Milwaukee died March 23, 2019.

She was born Doris Marshak on March 4, 1932 at Marshfield, Wisconsin. She graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1950.

She was predeceased by spouse Bertram Hoffman in 1981. She is survived by her brother Lewis (Leatrice) Marshak, niece Stefanie (Robert) Dorf and other great-nieces and nephews.

Doris attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she graduated as a medical technician. She was then employed at Deaconess Hospital and later as a teacher at Marquette University School of Dentistry.

Doris had many hobbies, but her main one was knitting. As an accomplished knitter, she knit hundreds of items for children and donated them to various charities. She was also an exceptional needle pointer.

Doris lived her last several years at St. John’s on the Lake and will be missed by many of her friends both there and elsewhere.

Graveside services were March 27, 2019 at Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery with Rabbi Noah Chertkoff, 326 S. Hawley Rd., Milwaukee. Donations to Congregation Shalom or a charity of your choice are appreciated. Blane Goodman Funeral Service assisted.

Ellen Rossman

Ellen Rossman of Washington D.C. died April 6, 2019 at age 76.

Dear sister of Stanley (Beryl) Rossman. Loving aunt of Amy and Jeremy Rossman (Ryan Sullivan). Further survived by Robin (Henry) Zaks, Abby (Marvin) Kanter, Karen (Kent Tobey) Coburn, Steven (Barbara) Dubrow, Vicki Dubrow, Alan (Jill) Dubrow, Joanne (Dennis) Paradise and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 at Second Home Cemetery, 3705 S. 43rd St., Milwaukee. Memorials to charities of your choice. Burial at Second Home Cemetery with Rabbi Ron Shapiro and Blane Goodman Funeral Service.

Elaine E. Sanderson 

Elaine E. Sanderson (Nee Cohen) died April 13, 2019 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Milton D. Sanderson.  Dear mother of Hollie (David) Relles, Robin (Jonathan) Jacobs and Scott (Ronnie) Sanderson. Proud grandmother of Nathan and Noah (Shira) Relles; Hannah (Asaf) Buchner; Evan (Christine) Sanderson; and Maia, Michael, Ariel and Gabriel (fiancée Oren Sasson) Jacobs and great-grandmother of Nadav and Aviv Buchner and Elijah Relles. Dear sister of Gerald (Helen) Cohen and Marshall (Beverly) Cohen. Further survived by other relatives and good friends.  A funeral service was held on April 15 at Congregation Shalom.  Burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions made to the Congregation Shalom Education Fund appreciated.  Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family.

Donna Selig

Donna Selig, 84, of Milwaukee, died April 16, 2019.

Selig was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Donna was a social worker with the Jewish Home and Care Center.

Burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 18, 2019 with Blane Goodman Funeral Service in Mequon.

Sylvia Siegman

Sylvia (nee Nankin) Siegman, 92, of Glendale,died March 9, 2019. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert M. Siegman. Dear mother of Lee (Estelle) Siegman, Nadine Siegman, Paul (Rhonda) Siegman and Aaron (Martha) Siegman. Beloved sister of Armin (Holly) Nankin and Frieda (Irving) Howards (nee Nankin). Grandmother to Benjamin Siegman, Sheehan (Brian) Rammel, Carolyn Siegman, Quinn Siegman, Marisela Bedolla, Aaron Daniel Siegman, Deidra (Michael) Marin, David Jeffrey Siegman and Sean (Jennifer) Siegman. Sylvia is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Sylvia was a math teacher and retired from Whitefish Bay High School in 1986. After that, she taught math at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee for several years. She is loved and remembered by many students. Sylvia was an avid gardener and loved to sew, read and play bridge. She was a best friend to many. Special thanks to caregivers from Horizon Home Care and Hospice and Stowell Associates. Graveside services were held on March 11 at Agudas Achim Cemetery. Donations may be made to Ovation Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation or Temple Menorah.  Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home assisted the family.

Stephen Young

Stephen Young of Mequon died April 11, 2019. He was 79.

Member of Congregation Shalom and worked for Jewish Home and Care Center.

Preceded in death by loving wife Barbara Young. Dear father of Joel (Michele) Young and Jodi (Todd) Miller. Cherished grandfather of Morgan and Michael Young; Jonah Miller. Special companion of Lillian Teplinsky. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were April 14, 2019 at Congregation Shalom, 7630 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point. Interment Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Memorials to Congregation Shalom.

Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery with rabbis Ron Shapiro and Noah Chertkoff.
