Marvin Arbiture

Marvin Arbiture died Jan. 12, 2019 at the age of 84. Uncle of William (Cynthia) Arbiture, Howard Arbiture and the late Diane (Dean) Slater. Further survived by his cherished partner of many years, Brenda Safer.

Marvin was a U.S. Army Veteran and a long time employee of Briggs & Stratton. He always put his family first, especially his parents, and will be deeply missed by his remaining family and friends.

A graveside service was held on Jan. 16 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.  Rabbi Steve Adams officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations made to Temple Menorah or Congregation Emanu-El Food Bank appreciated.

Gary Cohen

Gary Cohen of Cedarburg died Dec. 26, 2018. He was 72.

Dear husband of Patricia Rollo-Cohen. Loving father of Kathryn (Jason) Pawlowski and Andrew Stanislaw. Gary was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and a Vietnam veteran.

Funeral services were Dec. 30 at The Chapel, with interment at Mound Zion Cemetery. Memorials to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Gary Sinise Foundation. Rabbi Steve Adams and Blane Goodman Funeral Service assisted the family.

Marilyn Fine

Marilyn (nee Mosher) Fine of Glendale died Dec. 19, 2018. She was 89.

Dear mother of Suzanne (Michael) Kirsch and the late Stephen Fine.

Funeral services were Dec. 23, 2018 at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun with Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorials to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun or Hadassah.

Harrison Fishman

Harrison (Harry) Fishman died Oct. 27, 2018. He was 82.

Harry worked for the Wisconsin Union Lab. He played softball and football until age 70. He loved his family, then the Red Sox, Brewers and Packers.

Harry is survived by wife Florence Larkey Fishman, plus children Sheryl (Al), Simoncelli and Robert Fishman and Andrea (Daniel) Matkowsky. Fond brother of Norton (Carol) Fishman.

Burial at Spring Hill, with Rabbi Mark Berkson and Blane Goodman Funeral Service.

Sidney Gerber

Sidney Gerber died Jan. 9, 2019 at the age of 80.

Beloved husband of the late Marnee Gerber (nee Tamkin). Cherished father of Gregg (Dawn) Gerber, Holly (Herman) Quaintance and Rachel Gerber.

Funeral services were Jan. 14 at Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Rabbi Steve Adams officiated. Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the American Cancer Society appreciated.

Benjamin Hersh

Benjamin Hersh of Milwaukee died Dec. 20, 2018. He was 33.

Benjamin, born Aug. 21, 1985, died unexpectedly. He was one-of-a-kind and brought out the kindness in others. Ben was an amazing spirit, an empathetic and loving person, and possessed a fine sense of humor.

Services were held Dec. 23 at The Chapel in Shorewood. Burial at Mound Zion Cemetery. Rabbi Steve Adams and Blane Goodman Funeral Service assisted the family. Donations to a charity of your choice are appreciated.

Shirley Levy

Shirley Levy of the Milwaukee area died Dec. 31, 2018. She was 88.

Shirley’s deep devotion and support of her husband, throughout his life, was the pure expression of her heart. The centerpiece of her being, which she continued to her last breath in the undying love she had for her family.

Private services were held. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family. Rabbi Noah Chertkoff officiated. A celebration of Shirley’s life was held in Shorewood. It was her request that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.

Jack “Sonny” E. Meyers

Jack “Sonny” E. Meyers of Fox Point died Jan. 3, 2019. He was 96.

Born May 9, 1922 in Milwaukee. Beloved husband of Barbara Meyers (nee Grabin). Dear father of Louise (Jim) Doornek, Polly Clark, Tom (Pam) Meyers and Richard (Wilma Wallace) Meyers. Fond brother of Lenore Clark.

Jack served as a naval commander on the battleship USS Missouri in World War II. He was present at the signing of the peace with Japan on Sept. 2, 1945.

Funeral services were Jan. 6 at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial gifts to Evans Scholars Foundation, 1 Briar Rd., Golf, IL 60029, are appreciated.

Bonnie Oberman

Bonnie Oberman, formerly of West Bend, died Dec. 26, 2018 at the age of 73 in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Joel Fink, and dear parents, Joseph and Frances (nee Marvin) Oberman. Survived by her dear son, Jeff Fink, fond brothers, Harvey Oberman and Marvin (Iris Kaplan) Oberman, other loving relatives and friends.

Betty Paykel

Betty (nee Greenberg) Paykel of Bayside died Dec. 28, 2018. She was 88.

Born June 16, 1935 in Milwaukee, she is survived by spouse Eugene Paykel. Loving mother of Joseph (Neela) and Michael. Treasured grandmother of Sameer and Maya. Sister of William Greenberg (Carolyn).

Stanford “Stan” Podell

Stanford “Stan” Podell died Dec. 30, 2018, at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of the late Sandi Podell (nee Marks). Cherished father of Julie Lincis and Wendy Podell. Dear brother of Barbara (the late Joseph) Himes. Stan will fondly be remembered as a warm and friendly conversationalist with an amazing sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Wendy (nee Pack) Sager of Fox Point died Sept. 14, 1947. She was 71.

Beloved wife of Ronald Sager. Wendy was a dedicated social worker at the Department of Aging in Milwaukee. She generously supported numerous charities.

Lucille Shovers

Lucille Shovers (Nee Libman) died on Jan. 20, 2019 at the age of 94. Loving wife of the late Alfred Shovers. Cherished mother of Janice (Steve Wilensky) Gratch, Harvey (Laurie) Shovers and Gloria (Neil) Cramer.

Lucille spent most of her life in Wausau and the last ten years in Milwaukee. With her fun spirit, kind and generous nature, she made enduring friends and was loved by all.

Gary Staiman

Gary Staiman of Fremont, California died Dec. 11, 2018. He was 52.

Dear son of Audrey Laufmann. Loving brother of Lori (Lee) Patrick. Adoring nephew of Patti (the late Jordan) Weigler, Joel (Linda) Miller, and Monte (Karen) Miller. Sol Steingart

Sol Steingart died Dec.18, 2018, at the age of 100.

Beloved husband for 74 wonderful years to the late Sylvia Steingart (nee Margolis). Cherished father of JoAnn (Brian) Kellman and David (Maija) Steingart.

Aron Stolin

Aron Stolin died Jan. 5, 2019 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of the late Gita Stolin (nee Gelfand).  Loving father of Tamara (Roman) Koltun and grandfather of Raisa and Yulia Koltun.  Dear brother of Sonya (the late Michael) Rubinchik and uncle of Asya Okumansky and Bella Gelfand.

Dorothy Tarachow

Native Milwaukeean Dorothy (nee Berger) Tarachow died Dec. 7, 2018 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 88.

A devoted homemaker, she was a consummate hostess, frequently entertaining on short notice, always making you feel welcome in her home. Her smile, strength, kindness, appreciation and interest in others will always be qualities that will be remembered.

She enjoyed reading, art, traveling, theater, and most importantly, her family.  Dorothy was a lifelong member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz and their sisterhood.

She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene, cherished mother of Ellen (Lawrence) Rowen and the late Steven Tarachow, and grandmother to Mitchell and Alicia Rowen.  She is also survived by her sister Ida Pumpian and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Dec. 9 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery with Rabbi Levi Emmer officiating.  Memorials to Congregation Anshai Lebowitz appreciated.

Marvin Wasserman

Marvin Wasserman died Jan. 7, 2019, at the age of 94. Survived by his loving, devoted wife and best friend, Leona Wasserman (nee Sattler); daughters: Judy (Jack) Hearst, Gail Elias, Amy (Ben) Evans and Carol (David) Zolot.

Marvin was a proud World War II Army Air Corp veteran who went on to have a long career as a broker, builder and developer. He received Realtor emeritus recognition. Private services were held. Lev Yakubovich

Lev Yakubovich died on Jan. 17, 2019 at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of Lana Yakubovich (nee Meyerovich).  Loving father of William (Irene) Yakubovich and grandfather of Olga (Maksim) Imas.
