Sonia Posner Baime

Sonia Posner Baime (nee Solochek) died on Oct. 25, 2018 at age 96.

Loving wife of the late Lester D. Posner and the late Abraham H. Baime. Cherished mother of Alan Posner (Karen Zucker) and the late Armand M. Posner. Proud grandmother of Loren Posner. She will also be missed by Abraham’s daughters, Rosanne (Fred) Wickman and Barbara (Mitch) Goodsitt and their children, Marlena (John Grotans) Goodsitt; Samuel (Danielle) Goodsitt and Benjamin (Emily) Wickman, among others.

Funeral service was Nov. 2 at the Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Burial at Mound Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions appreciated to Milwaukee Jewish Federation, For Scholarship Programs, 1360 N. Rick Bernstein

Rick Bernstein of Waukesha died Sept. 9, 2018. He was 62.

Rick was born Sept. 28, 1955 in Milwaukee.

A 1973 graduate of Nicolet High School, he also graduated from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1979 with a degree in finance. He was a member of Temple Menorah and worked as a loan officer.

He enjoyed the Milwaukee Bucks, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He loved spending time with family and friends and he loved attending sporting events, concerts and traveling.

He is survived by spouse Lynn Bernstein, plus son Daniel Bernstein, three step children, brother Jeff (Janet) Bernstein, sister Barbara (Jim) Blocker, brother Robert Bernstein, among others.

Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery.

Edward Gillman

Edward Gillman of Peoria, Arizona died Nov. 6, 2018 at age 88.

Edward was born in Milwaukee. He was an independent C.P.A. After retiring the first time, Edward decided staying at home was not for him. He entered the workforce again with Milwaukee County Family Care, Department of Aging.

Edward and his wife moved to Arizona four years ago. Edward loved to garden, folk dancing, music, the Arizona sunshine and mountains and his companion, “Kitty.”

He is survived by wife Rita-An Kiely and daughters Monica Gillman and Susan (Jackie) Gillman, among others.

A remembrance will be held Dec. 2 at Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Edward’s name to 4 Paws Rescue, 11129 W. Michigan Ave., Youngtown, AZ 85363.

Miriam A. Koosman

Miriam A. Koosman (nee Shapiro) died in New Jersey on Oct. 25, 2018. She was 94.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, David and Ann (nee Bronstein) Shapiro. Loving aunt of Debby Monroe, Robin (Robert Deats) Gaines and Judy Grosswald, among others.

A graveside funeral service was Oct. 30 at Second Home Cemetery. Rabbi Rachel Marks officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted.

Neil S. Loeb died Nov. 4, 2018 at the age of 63.

Cherished son of Annabelle and the late Archie Loeb. Beloved husband of Kellie Loeb (nee Fies). Loving father of Patsy (Andrew) Nadder, Morgan Loeb and Seanna Loeb. Dear brother of Jan (Marc) Shovers.

Beverly Melnikov

Beverly Melnikov (nee Gutglass) died Oct. 28, 2018. She was 87.

Beloved mother of Eileen (Bill) Hess. Loving aunt of Dr. David (Sandra) Gutglass; Jim (Patti) Gutglass and Judy (Rich) Harris. Dear sister of the late Dr. Milton (the late Paula) Gutglass.

Phyllis Millman

Phyllis Millman (nee Rabin) died on Oct. 26, 2018. She was 96.

Preceded in death by loving spouse Carl Millman. Mother of Nancy (David) Melnick and Robert (Judy) Millman, among other survivors.

Funeral service was Oct. 28. Burial at Second Home Cemetery. David Rubenstein

David Rubenstein of West Allis died Oct. 26, 2018. He was 71.

Beloved brother of Lee (Marlene) Rubenstein. Further survived by dear relatives and many close friends.

David was born in Virginia, Minnesota on Jan. 24, 1947 to Harry and Elsie Rubenstein and was a graduate of Virginia High School (1965) and the University of Pennsylvania – Wharton School of Finance (1969). David owned, operated and managed retail stores throughout his business career and thoroughly enjoyed fishing, traveling and kibbitzing.

Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at the Harry and Elsie Rubenstein Family Chapel at Essentia Health-Virginia Hospital in Minnesota. Burial was at Range Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to CivicLeadershipFoundation.org. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted.

Michael M. Ruvin

Michael M. Ruvin died on Nov. 14, 2018 at the age of 83.

Dear companion and best friend of Bonnie Erickson. Beloved father of Richard (Amy) and Robert Ruvin. Also survived by dear half-brother, Michael Renner; other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held on Nov. 21 at Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Rabbi Jenn Mangold officiated. Seymour “Shlomo” Stillerman

Seymour “Shlomo” Stillerman died Nov. 12, 2018. He was 97. 

Beloved husband of the late Nina Stillerman (nee Levine). Cherished father of Chanita Stillerman, Becky Witter, Sharona Stillerman and Beverly (David) Gruber. Dear brother of the late Batya (the late Bernard) Stepner. Further survived by other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral service was held on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Avenue, Brookfield. Rabbi Joel Alter and Hazzan Jeremy Stein officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorial contributions to Ovation Chai Point or a charity of choice appreciated.

Lois Stockland

Lois Stockland (nee Engel) died Nov. 17, 2018, at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of the late Dr. Leo “Stock” Stockland for 55 loving years. Loving mother of Wendy (Michael) Foster of Illinois and Dr. Andrew Stockland of Minnesota. Also survived by daughter Gayle (Dennis) Fixler of Maryland.

Lois was a teacher at the Thiensville Grande grade school. She later owned Romantiques and volunteered in the Milwaukee Public Schools system.

Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery. Rabbi Michael Remson and Cantor Hasha Musha Perman officiated. Sofiya Shenker

Sofiya Shenker died Nov. 8, 2018. She was 92.

Predeceased by spouse Yuriy Bronveyberg. Survived by daughter Aleksandr (Margarita) Mogilevskiy, among others.

A graveside service was held on Monday, Nov. 12 at Greenwood Cemetery, Milwaukee. Rabbi Steve Adams officiated.  Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted.

Ruth Stroiman

Ruth Stroiman (nee Pories) died Nov. 3, 2018. She was 93.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore Stroiman. Cherished mother of Judy (Michael) Hamrell and Linda (Bill) Ross. Step-mom to Marty Stroiman, Jeffrey Stroiman and Mindy Stroiman.

Interment was private at Mound Zion Cemetery. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted. Memorial contributions to Temple Ahavat Shalom, 1575 Curlew Rd., Palm Harbor, FL 34683 or Jewish National Fund Tree Planting project appreciated.

Ruth Traxler

Ruth Traxler of Milwaukee died Nov. 12, 2018. She was 95.

A 1940 graduate of Washington High School, she graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1945. She held a bachelor of science in medicine and public health.

She was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid.

Ruth was predeceased by spouse Jerome Traxler in 2011. Ruth is also preceded in death by sister Tillie (Jack) Cassell. Dear mother of Jeanne (Robert Goisman) Traxler and John (Anne Dayer) Traxler. Beloved sister of Fred (Esther) Wiviott and Muriel (Irving) Becker.

Ruth was the president of the Board of Jewish Education from 1962-65. She was also involved with Hadassah and the religious school of Temple Emanu-El.

Burial was at Second Home Cemetery, Nov. 15, with Rabbi Steven Adams and Blane Goodman Funeral Service in Mequon. Memorial contributions welcome to Jewish Museum Milwaukee, Hadassah or Milwaukee Art Museum.

Robert Watchmaker

Robert Watchmaker of Mequon died Oct. 19, 2018. He was 94.

Robert was born Jan. 2, 1924 in Brookline, Mass. He came to Wisconsin from Boston in 1956.

Robert graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1947 with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering. He was a member of Temple Shalom.

Predeceased by spouse Marlene Watchmaker in 2016. Survivors included children Tracy Watchmaker, Todd (DeeAnne) Watchmaker and Greg (Wendy) Watchmaker.

Burial at Second Home Cemetery Oct. 21, with Rabbi Noah Chertkoff and Blane Goodman. Memorial contributions welcome to Jewish Community Pantry, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay.
