Poll: Does President Trump bear any responsibility for the massacre in Pittsburgh?

This is, we admit, a divisive question. But that’s where America is right now — divided.

This past Shabbat morning,  a gunman massacred 11 congregants at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Can the president be connected with this heinous act?

Some will argue that President Trump’s rhetoric has overheated the current political climate, that his dog whistles send a message of intolerance. Some feel the president created the perfect Petri dish for growing anti-Antisemitism. Also, the president has shown little interest in pursuing gun control; an assault weapon was used in the attack.

Others will point out that the man captured at the scene was not a Trump supporter. Social media has connected the intolerant with one another like never before. Maybe the power of the Internet is the true culprit. And how can Trump be accused of anything related to antisemitism when he has Jewish family and shows such strong support for Israel?

What do you think?
