Broadway comes to CBINT

It’s a funny twist on the classic romantic comedy: boy meets girl while performing on Broadway, boy marries girl, girl encourages boy to move to her native Wisconsin to raise their son, boy and girl become stars of the Milwaukee TV and theater scene. In this case it’s Andrew and Susan Varela and they’ll be performing as a team on Oct. 21 at Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid in Glendale. Jeremy Stein, CBINT’s resident Cantor will feature the Varelas in a concert “Lenny at 100, Celebrating Bernstein’s Jewish Voice.” Susan and Andrew aren’t Jewish but this is their third time starring in the synagogue’s yearly concert. When they aren’t starring in local TV commercials or performing at Skylight Music Theater, among other things, they love to work with Hazzan Stein on unique and creative projects like this. Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid, 6880 N. Green Bay Ave, Glendale. 7:30 p.m. $18. 414-352-7310.
