Florence Cohen

Florence Cohen (nee Margolis) of Wauwatosa died June 25, 2018. She was 87.

Florence was born Oct. 10, 1930 in Houston, but came to Milwaukee from Chicago in 1933. She attended North Division High School and graduated in 1948. She worked part-time at Gimbels and Marquette University. She volunteered for Chabad, Milwaukee Public Schools and other organizations. Survivors include husband Alvin Cohen and children Susan, Steven (Cathy) and Sally (Mark), plus grandchildren.

Burial was at Second Home Cemetery on June 27, 2018 with rabbis Yisrael Shmotkin and Yosef Samuels.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society of Chabad of Wisconsin, 3109 N. Lake Dr., Milwaukee, WI 53211.

Judith Ann Gimbel

Judith Ann Gimbel (nee Wlodarski) died in Virginia on July 18, 2018. She was 77.

Beloved wife of the late Stanley Gimbel. Loving mother of Holly Gimbel (Jonathan Lang) and J. Rod (Jennifer) Gimbel. Proud grandmother of Eli, Maya and Jeremy Lang and Parker, Sadie and Taylor Gimbel. Dear sister of Donald (Camille Nicolai) Wlodarski and sister-in-law of Franklyn (Anne) Gimbel. Preceded in death by loving parents Eugene and Evelyn Wlodarski.

Graveside funeral service was held July 20 at Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery.  Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL  60601 appreciated. Rabbi Noah Chertkoff officiated. Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home assisted the family.

Sol Lemel

Sol Lemel of Mequon, a Holocaust survivor, died on May 19, 2018. He was 105.

Having opened Sol’s Tailor Shop in Milwaukee, he tailored clothes until he was 98.

He’d married his wife Genia in a displaced persons camp in Germany and they were married for 68 years. He is remembered as a loving husband and devoted father. Family always came first.

Sol lived at Ovation Sarah Chudnow for the past six years.

Sol was predeceased by Genia in 2015. Born in Poland, he came to Wisconsin from Germany in 1949. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid.

Survivors include daughters Brenda (Craig) Wichman of Mequon and Miriam Ritter of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sol was buried at Agudas Achim Cemetery on May 22, 2018, with Rabbi Noah Chertkoff officiating.
