Larry Berg
Larry Berg of Carlsbad, California died April 26, 2018. He was 93.
He was born July 29, 1924 in Hawarden, Iowa and came to Milwaukee from Huron, South Dakota in 1995.
Survivors include wife Beverly Kramer Berg; son Michael Berg (Michelle Moore); daughters, Barbette Berg , Jodi Berg and Wendy (Eric) Deneroff; and grandchildren, Max Deneroff and Sami Deneroff.
Officiants were Rabbi Adam Wright and Cantor William Tiep of San Diego. Services by Am Israel Mortuary of San Diego.
Norma Nancy Bernstein
Norma Nancy Bernstein of Milwaukee died April 28, 2018. She was 74.
She was born Feb. 16, 1944 and was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School. In her earlier years she worked at her parents’ liquor store. She was a homemaker and freelance writer who’d published poems. A volunteer with the Milwaukee Boys Club and the Special Olympics, she loved dancing, judo, tennis and more. She loved working with children and adults as a volunteer reading teacher. She attended University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and was active in religious studies.
She is survived by Murray M. Bernstein, her husband of 54 years, and son David J. Bernstein.
Burial was at Wisconsin Memorial Park on May 2, with Chaplain Randee Zitelman and Congregation Sinai. Krause Funeral Home assisted.
Memorial contributions are welcome to the North Suburban Special Olympics in Grafton.
Stanley David Deutsch
Stanley David Deutsch of Fox Point died Feb. 26, 2018. He was 91.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on Dec. 28, 1926. He was an industrial engineer specializing in quality control. He worked for General Electric, Allis Chalmers, Massey Ferguson and Echlin. He graduated from Columbia University in 1950. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid, 6880 N. Green Bay Ave, Glendale.
Survivors include his sons Mark, Jerrold, Steven and Arnold Deutsch and his daughter Lisa Pierce.
His surviving wife is Regina (Genie) Deutsch.
The burial on Feb. 28 was in Montefiore Cemetery, Long Island, New York.
Mannel David Leno
Mannel (Manny) David Leno of Boca Raton, Florida died April 6, 2018. He was 97.
Born in Michigan on April 20, 1920, he lived there and in Ohio and New York before coming to Milwaukee in 1933. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1938 and worked for Paymaster Corporation.
As for special interests, it was family first, then golf, fishing and traveling the world with his wife.
Predeceased by wife Esther Rothman Leno in 2013.
Survived by children Janet Leno (Peter Harrold), Mark Leno, Jamie Leno Zimron (Tamar Lavi) and others.
Burial at Mound Zion Cemetery with Rabbi Ron Shapiro. Memorial contributions may be sent to Ovation Jewish Home.
Harriet N. Marks
Harriet N. Marks of Glendale died April 21, 2018. She was 86.
She was born in Milwaukee and graduated in 1950 from Washington High School.
She was a member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz and was a proud chapter advisor in BBG for many years. She worked as an office manager for physicians. She was an avid mahjong player.
Harriet was extremely devoted to her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every Sunday family dinners were held at her home with her husband Harvey and whichever children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren were in town. She got tremendous joy being able to attend all four of her grandchildren’s graduations from college. She and her husband spent many years vacationing in Florida where she was the social secretary of the condo association and planned many fetes, especially for her beloved Green Bay Packers.
Survived by spouse Harvey E. Marks, her husband of almost 67 years, and also daughter Melanie (Marcus) Bandos; son Charles (Ruth); grandchildren Gerad (Deborah) Bandos, Alana Bandos, Alex and Kaelyn Marks; and great-grandchildren Rachell and Reuven Bandos.
Burial was at Second Home Cemetery with Rabbi David Korngold and Goodman-Bensman funeral home. Memorial contributions are welcome to Congregation Anshai Lebowitz or Lawlis Hospice.
