Esther A. Blackley

Esther A. Blackley of Milwaukee died April 12, 2018. She was 61.

Despite her disabilities, Estee was a warm, happy and loving person with many friends and a caring family. She is sorely missed and is remembered as having lived a remarkable life.

Survivors include siblings Riva Meyer and Steven (Ani) Schlonsky, and her step mother Reva Schlonsky, among others.

Funeral was at Mound Zion with Rabbi Steven Adams and Suminksi Family Funeral Homes on April 16.

Ronald R. Giles

Sally Karp

Sally Karp (née Nashinsky) died on April 6, 2018. She was 90.

She was born on March 12, 1928 and was married for nearly 70 years to her husband, Joseph Karp. She leaves two surviving sons, Jeffrey Karp and David Karp along with grandchildren, Shelley Renzelman, (late) Andrew Karp, Michael Karp and Kelley Karp. The funeral was held at The Chapel of Shorewood on April 10 and was officiated by Rabbi Noah Chertkoff of Congregation Shalom. Interment was at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery, in Milwaukee.

Joseph Stanley Kretchmar

Joseph Stanley Kretchmar, M.D. died Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He was 93.

Joe was a member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz for many years where he frequently chanted maftirs. In addition, he and his wife were members of numerous other Jewish congregations over the years.

Joe was a lifelong member of Sierra Club and loved the outdoors, especially canoeing, hiking, fishing and hunting. He hiked the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail and hiked the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy with his wife, Shelly. Joe’s hobbies included wood working and studying Italian. He was the volunteer wood worker for the Milwaukee Jewish Day School.

Dr. Kretchmar was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and was a member of the Mid-Western Association of Plastic Surgeons.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis Kretchmar, M.D. and Jeanette (nee Feinberg) Kretchmar. Survived by his wife, Rochelle (Shelly). Other survivors include David (Debra Feiges) Kretchmar, PhD, Sarah (Ted Jenkins) Kretchmar, Ann (Matt) Wanless, Daniel (Katherine Bauer) Kretchmar, and Joshua (Yoshino Matsushima) Kretchmar, PhD, D.O., Mariana Moreno Kretchmar and Jay Rosenbloom. Proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren.

Harriet N. Marks

Harriet N. Marks of Glendale died April 21, 2018. She was 86.

She was born in Milwaukee.

Harriet graduated from Washington High School in 1950. She was a member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz and was a proud chapter advisor in BBG for many years. She worked as an office manager for physicians.

Harriet was an avid mahjong player all of her life. She was devoted to her family.

She is survived by spouse Harvey E. Marks, her husband of almost 67 years, plus daughter Melanie (Marcus) Bandos, Son Charles (Ruth), grandchildren Gerad (Deborah) Bandos, Alana Bandos, Alex and Kaelyn Marks and great grandchildren.

Harriet was extremely devoted to her family. Every Sunday family dinners were held at her home with her husband Harvey and whichever children, grandchildren or great grandchildren were in town. She had tremendous joy attending all four of her grandchildren’s graduations from college. She and her husband spent many years vacationing in Florida where she was the social secretary of the condo association and planned many events, especially for her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Burial was at Second Home Cemetery on April 23 with Rabbi David Korngold and Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home.

Ralph Mason

Ralph Mason died April 29, 2018. He was 98.

Beloved husband of the late Frieda Mason (nee Schultz).  Cherished father of Richard (Joyce) Mason and Gary Mason.  Dear brother of Carol (the late Sam) Rittberg and the late Milton (the late Bernice) Mason.  Further survived by two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and dear friends.

A graveside service was held on May 2. at Temple Menorah Ever-Rest Cemetery, 9548 W. Beloit Road, Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, 3800 N. 92nd St., Milwaukee, WI 53222 will be appreciated.

Morton Reuben

Morton Reuben of Mequon died April 7, 2018. He was 92.

He was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School in 1943. Morton graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1949. He was with Statewide Builders. Interests included golf, avid reading, family and doing handy projects. In later years he worked with stained glass.

Beloved husband of Rosalyn Reuben (nee Fisher). Cherished father of Gayle (Alan Lever) Reuben, Barbara (Barry) Stivers, Larry (Carmen Ploetz) Reuben, Carolyn (Bradley) Kimmel, and Stacy (Michael) Dahl. Loving grandfather of Michael (Sara) Reuben; Austin Reuben; Adam (Linsey), Sari, and Ryan (Susie) Kimmel; Spencer and Ava Dahl. “Super Pop” of Samantha Kimmel. Dear brother of Donald “Buddy” (Susan) Reuben and Leatrice (Lewis) Marshak. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Morton proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, injured during the Battle of the Bulge.

Funeral services were April 9 at Temple Menorah, 9363 N. 76th St., Milwaukee. Burial at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery, 134 S. Dana Ct., Milwaukee. Services provided by Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home.
