Jean Rosenberg

Jean Rosenberg of Milwaukee died Dec. 5, 2017. She was 91.

She was born June 19, 1926. Jean was predeceased by husband Bennett Rosenberg on April 28, 2007.

A life-long Milwaukeean, she graduated from North Division High School in 1944. Jean, whose maiden name was Ottenstein, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1948.

Special interests included needlepoint, reading and politics. Jean was a volunteer for many organizations including the Salvation Army, Mt. Sinai Hospital and the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition. She spent a number of years volunteering at Congregation Shalom individually and with her husband.

Survivors include daughters Marilyn (Brad) Shovers, Barbara (David) Victor and Sally (Rick) Boren, plus grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Burial was at Second Home with Rabbi Noah Chertkoff and Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Shalom in Fox Point.

Morton Shane

Morton Irwin Shane of Naples, Florida died on Nov. 25, 2017. He was 76.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 14, 1941, Morton moved to Milwaukee as a young child and attended Washington High School and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Morton worked in insurance and started an independent insurance agency in Wisconsin in the 1970s. He later marketed small group health, life and dental insurance in the Midwest and Florida.

In 2001 “Mort” and his wife Susan became snowbirds to Naples where he enjoyed golfing, swimming, exercising, the beach and the weather. Most of all he loved his family, including his children Carolyn Shane, Linda Cayle, Marc Cayle and his beloved grandchildren. He was generous, caring, loving and put his family first.

A funeral service officiated by Rabbi Adam Miller was held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at Fuller Funeral Home, Naples.

Leo Manuel Solochek

Leo Manuel Solochek of Phoenix, Arizona died Nov. 14, 2017. He was 93.

He was born May 18, 1924 in Milwaukee, predeceased by Beatrice Solochek in 2016.

A graduate of North Division High School, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering. He’d been a member of both Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid and Congregation Shalom.

He’d worked as a home builder and residential developer, self-employed, with developments throughout the Milwaukee area.

Survivors include Arlen (Marcia) Solochek and Cynthia (Jim McVeigh), both of Phoenix; Warren (Lisa) Solochek of Chicago, and grandchildren. Leo served in World War II as a medic in the 84th Division Army and received a Bronze Star for bravery. He visited Washington, D.C. with the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight program. His love for the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and playing golf was exceeded only by his love for Bea and their children and grandchildren.

Place of burial was Mound Zion Cemetery, Brookfield, on Nov. 20, with Rabbi Ronald Shapiro. Sinai Mortuary of Phoenix and Blane Goodman Funeral Services provided funeral services.

Anita Stone

Anita Stone of Milwaukee died Dec. 6, 2017. She was 82.

She was born Feb. 25, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Anita was predeceased by Robert Stone in 2016. She graduated from University of Minnesota with a bachelor of arts in education and was a member of The Shul.

Survivors include children Nancy (Scott) Phillips and Jim (Helena) Stone and grandchildren. Preceded in death by loving son Steven.
