Judith Flom Dolnick
Judith Flom Dolnick of Middleton died April 4. She was 65.
She came to Wisconsin from Baltimore in 1978, having graduated from Milford Mill High School in 1969. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1974.
She held a bachelor of science in English, speech and theater education. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid through 2005, then Moses Montefiore Congregation in Appleton. She held various positions on synagogue boards and in sisterhood organizations.
She was a teacher with the University School of Milwaukee. She was a community educator with the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Appleton.
Special interests included reading, especially long mysteries and thrillers, and also acting. She performed in various community theater productions at the Sunset Playhouse, the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, University of Wisconsin – Fox Valley and the Attic Theater in Menasha.
She is survived by spouse Stuart Dolnick. Cherished mother of Mindy Dolnick (Jason) Tureau and Rachel Dolnick. Daughter of the late Max and the late Mitzi Flom and daughter-in-law of Seymour (the late Eve “Bunny”) Dolnick. Loving sister of Jack (Cindy Brady) Flom.
The burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 23 with Rabbi Steven Adams and Suminski Weiss Funeral Home.
Madalyn S. Gersen
Madalyn S. Gersen of Glendale died May 14, 2017. She was 94.
She was a resident of Symphony Seven Oaks Nursing Home. Born on Oct. 12, 1922 in Milwaukee, she was predeceased by Robert E. Gersen in 1974.
She graduated from Shorewood High School in 1938 and was a member of Temple Shalom.
Organizations included the Women’s Auxiliary Committee – Jewish War Veterans.
Services were held at Spring Hill Cemetery on May 16. Rabbi Ron Shapiro officiated with Blaine Goodman Funeral Services. Memorial gifts appreciated to the American Heart Association.

Ida Rifzis
Ida Rifzis of Milwaukee died May 27. She was 94.
She was predeceased, by Bernard Rifzis, her husband, in 2001.
Ida Rifzis was an active member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz, where she served as treasurer for several years. She was employed by AT&T for more than 20 years.
She is survived by children Henry (Carol) Wolinsky, Janice (Izzy) Kozochowicz and Elliott (JoAnne) Rifzis, among others.
Graveside services were held May 30 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
Stanley Weiss, Sc.D.
Stanley Weiss of Whitefish Bay died April 30. He was 88.
After graduating from the Polytechnic Institute of New York, he received his master of science and doctorate of science in materials and metallurgical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He taught graduate and undergraduate programs and conducted research programs for more than 20 years as faculty with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and MIT. He worked on the development of the first aircraft gas turbine and other major projects, winning awards from General Electric.
He is survived by spouse Barbara Weiss and their sons and spouses – David and Itta; Elliot and Ida; and Nelson and Virginia, and grandchildren.
The place of burial was Mound Zion Cemetery on May 2, with Rabbi Cheski Edelman. The funeral home was Goodman Bensman of Whitefish Bay.

Eugene Tarachow
Native Milwaukeean Eugene Tarachow died May 27th from a long illness. He was 88.
A graduate of North Division High School, he served in our armed forces in the pre-Korean conflict. He was a sales manager for American Tobacco Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1989.
He was actively involved at his condominium, serving on the board. Eugene was a true mensch, known to always lend a helping hand to anyone. An avid sports fan, he frequently attended sporting events. He made many model airplanes, some of which he flew with his hobby group.
Eugene was a lifelong member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz and the Jewish War Veterans.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Berger), devoted father to Ellen (Lawrence) Rowen and Steven Tarachow, and cherished grandfather to Mitchell and Alicia Rowen. He is also survived by a brother, Marvin (Doris) Tarachow, sister-in-laws Ida Pumpian and Sharon Berger, and his many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 29th at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery. Rabbi Levi Emmer of the Jewish Home and Care Center officiated.
