MEQUON – The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center announced on Monday, June 19 the purchase of a new building to house its Mequon-area early childhood education center, the Linda & Fred Wein Center for Gan Ami Early Childhood Education.
The building, at 10813 N. Port Washington Road, was the former site of a since-closed preschool. It will be ready for current and new JCC families at the start of the 2017 fall school year.
“This investment, made possible with the generous support of the Wein Family, is a strong demonstration of our commitment to high quality education and the entire northern suburban community,” said JCC President & Chief Executive Officer Mark Shapiro, according to a news release. “As our service continues to grow, we identified the need for a permanent home for our program – one that could serve our existing families and meet the needs of a growing community. We are deeply appreciative for the families, donors, staff, and partners who have made this investment possible.”
“Quality education happens through highly trained faculty, in partnership with parents and caregivers. To have a new home that matches the standards of our teaching, and empowers us to educate with great heart and inclusive values, is a blessing,” added JCC Director of Early Childhood Education Stacy Mitchell.
Previously licensed as a school, the JCC will spend the summer months investing in the property and preparing to open for all families in September. Along with the Hy & Richard Smith JCC Water Park and the Albert & Ann Deshur JCC Rainbow Day Camp, this property represents the third site the JCC owns in Ozaukee County.
Tours for returning and prospective families will begin, by appointment, following the first community open house scheduled for Monday, June 26 from 5-7:00 pm. Appointments and enrollment inquiries can be directed to Karen Faust, Site Director, at 262-242-9871 or by visiting JccMilwaukee.org
