University of Wisconsin –Milwaukee Theater Professor Anne Basting, a member of Congregation Shir Hadash, has won a “Genius Grant” from the MacArthur Foundation.
Her breakthrough project, TimeSlips, is an improvisational storytelling method in which older adults with cognitive impairment imagine stories and poems in response to inspiring cues, according to the Foundation. Basting has created several theater pieces with elder collaborators around specific themes or community issues.
She is one of 23 new fellows who will each receive $625,000 to pursue projects, according to the official school blog, UWM Report.
