Debra Deshur
Debra Deshur, nee Mitz, died at home on April 23, 2016, after a battle with cancer.
She graduated from Nicolet High School and went on to obtain a degree in architecture from Arizona State University. She worked as an architect in Los Angeles for several years before starting her own firm.
Debra is survived by her husband William, daughter Alexandra, father Meyer Mitz, sister Jodie Mitz, and others.
In lieu of flowers, donate in Debra’s name to Best Buddies of Wisconsin, 10425 W. North Ave., #340, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin 53226.
Born in Germany, he attended Washington High School and University of Wisconsin. He was president of Temple Menorah. He was a business owner with interests in travel, golf, playing cards, the Brewers and the Packers.
Survivors include son Mark Goldner of Mequon; daughter Lori Pachefsky of Slinger and brother Fred Goldner of Milwaukee.
Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer of Temple Menorah officiated. The funeral home was Goodman-Bensman.
Mary Fried Miller
Mary Fried Miller of White Plains, New York, died May 2, 2016, of cancer. She was 85.
She was born June 26, 1930, in Milwaukee.
She is survived by spouse Charles ("Buzz") Miller.
She graduated from Manhattanville College. She holds a master’s degree. She was a member of Congregation Kol Ami of White Plains.
She is survived by children, Cathy Castaneda (Mario), Steven and Jennifer (Michael Grady).
She is also survived by her brother, John L. Fried (Roberta) of Milwaukee, and others.
The funeral home was Ballard and Durand in White Plains.
Shirley Lakes Slutzky, nee Davis, died April 17 in Chicago. She was 99.
Slutzky was mother to Richard Lakes and Robin Lakes. She was stepmother to Lorence Slutzky, Rodney Slutzky and Toby Walanka.
She moved to Milwaukee in the 1940s and was active in various organizations, including Planned Parenthood and Recordings for the Blind. She was a founding member of Congregation Shalom.
