African Jewish leader visiting Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – Yehudah Kimani, the leader of the Kasuku Jewish community in Kenya, is visiting the Milwaukee area May 20-23.

His schedule is expected to include an appearance at Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid for Shabbat morning services May 21 (open to the public) and a Shabbat dinner at Milwaukee Jewish Day School, according to MJDS teacher Mara Kleiman.

Kenyan children from Kimani’s community have been communicating with Milwaukee Jewish Day School second grade students through Skype. The students have been singing songs together, including Ma Nishtana and Dayenu.

This story has been corrected from an earlier version that listed the wrong congregation. The Chronicle regrets the error.
