Bettie Barenbaum Muchin of Manitowoc died Feb. 12, 2016. She was 88.
Muchin was born Oct. 6, 1927 in Minnesota. Her deceased spouse was Arden Archie Muchin, who died April 13, 2009.
She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1944 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison at age 16. In 1948, she graduated with honors with a bachelor of music degree. Years later, she earned a bachelor of science degree in library science at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc.
She was on the Manitowoc Mental Health Board, a member of the Anshe Poale Zedek Synagogue in Manitowoc, the former Manitowoc Jewish Federation and Hadassah.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Muchin of Brookfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Efrem and Sheree (Magin) Muchin of Las Vegas, and Jay and Robin (Zulauf) Muchin of Manitowoc; three granddaughters; Jacquelyn (Eric) Huckins of Madison, Nastassja Muchin of Madison and Claudine Muchin of Manitowoc.
A private burial was held Feb. 15, 2016, with Goodman-Bensman serving as the funeral home.
