Museum plans events with baseball themes

   The Jewish Museum Milwaukee, a program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, will present several baseball or general sports-themed events in August in conjunction with its exhibit “Chasing Dreams: Baseball & Becoming American.”

   The museum will present its first Steve Solochek Lecture on Thursday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. It will feature baseball historian John Thorn.

   Thorn served as chief consultant to Ken Burns’ PBS documentary film, “Baseball,” and is the author of several books. He also was the chief consultant for the national exhibition of “Chasing Dreams.”

   JMM leads an outing to MEARS Auction House and Museum for a “Sports Collectors Talk & Tour” on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1:30 p.m.

   Owner and sports ephemerae expert Troy Kinunen will speak about creating his unique business and his own collection of iconic sports memorabilia.

   Finally, the museum will present a lunch-and-learn panel discussion on “The Business of Sports” on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 11:30 a.m.

   Panelists will be sports law specialist Marty Greenberg, Milwaukee Bucks Vice President of Strategy and Operations Alex Lasry and Milwaukee Admirals owner Harris Turer.
