June programs at Sarah Chudnow Community bring a variety of musical performances with a dash of mystery.
Retired Milwaukee Police Department forensic specialist and mystery author Tom Hanratty presents “Forensic Science for Mystery Buffs” on Wednesday, June 3, 7 p.m. He has more than 30 years of forensic tracking experience.
On Tuesday, June 9, 3 p.m., Joan Lawless Armbruster presents her one-woman show “Shady Lady Kicking 80.”
The Summer Concert Series kicks off on Wednesday, June 10, 7 p.m., with the Black Marigold woodwind quintet performing new and classic music.
On Wednesday, June 24, 7 p.m., Caravan Gypsy Swing plays a range of tunes from the “Hot Swing” repertoire, originals and standards. The Summer Concert series is sponsored by the Gilbert Meisel Music Fund of the Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation.
Other musical performances are scheduled in June apart from the series. On Thursday, June 4, 3 p.m., Joban Cater stages a tribute to the music of James Brown, Michael Jackson and Jackie Wilson.
On Sunday, June 14, 2 p.m., the musical duo Groovy performs music from Andy Williams to Patsy Cline.
Ilya Letvyn, violinist, and Olga Vologarskaya, pianist — both students of Mark Boschstein — perform string and piano selections on Sunday, June 21, 2 p.m.
To close out the month, singer Julie Thompson performs jazz standards on Sunday, June 28, 2 p.m.
SCC also offers recurrent monthly programs. On Wednesday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m., attorney Lori Kornblum, adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School and former assistant district attorney for Milwaukee County, offers legal perspective to some of the controversial topics of our times.
Lisa Gorelick, RN, BS, presents “Healthy Living” on Friday, June 12, at 11:15 a.m. and Saturday, June 27, at 2:30 p.m. If planning on attending, please refrain from wearing fragrances.
