The Milwaukee Jewish Day School honored a Milwaukee business leader and a former student at its “Pay It Forward” event on April 30 at Shully’s The Watermark. More than 250 people attended.
The event was also the school’s largest fundraising event since the 25th anniversary gala in 2008, and its third most successful fundraising effort ever, raising more than $100,000.
Howard Frankenthal received the school’s new Tikkum Olam Award. Frankenthal has enabled the school to continue its focus on academic excellence, character development, and philanthropy.
Chandlar Strauss, MJDS alumna and current Homestead High School student, received the new Next Generation Award. Strauss started her own non-profit called Kids 4 Kids to support inner-city education in Milwaukee and has raised more than $30,000 to date. She has also created a team of more than 50 student volunteers who work regularly with students at the Milwaukee College Preparatory School.
