Chai Point Senior Living events for May include programs focusing on art, music, Prohibition and Israel.
“En Plein Air-An Afternoon of Painting, Music and Inspiration” takes place on Sunday, May 3, 1-3 p.m., in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Creative Trust. UWM art students will guide Chai Point residents and guests in watercolor painting techniques. This event is part of the Museum Mile program.
On Sunday, May 10, 2 p.m., traditional Jewish music and jazz standards will be performed by flutist Rick Aaron, keyboardist Mike Hetzel and vocalist Shara Harvey.
In honor of Chai Point’s celebration of “Speakeasy Week,” the Milwaukee-based Nu Jazz duo Mrs. Fun and guest John Schneider will perform on Wednesday, May 15, 6:45 p.m.
Attorney Ellen Kozak discusses “The History of Prohibition in Milwaukee” on Thursday, May 14, 1:30 p.m. Kozak is a copyright, publishing and media lawyer as well as the author of hundreds of articles in publications including USA Today and The Wall Street Journal.
Amit Yaniv-Zehavi, Israel Emissary to Milwaukee and director of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s Israeli Center, will present an Israeli film on Wednesday, May 20, 3 p.m., and answer questions afterward.
On Friday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m., Josh Silldorff, founder of BrightLight Innovations, presents “Walking the Streets of Italy: A Live, Interactive Tour.” Through the help of Easy Connect HD technology, residents and guests will experience Italy.
“You Be the Judge,” a series of discussions with local attorneys about controversial cases, opens on Wednesday, May 27, 3 p.m. Sports attorney Martin Greenberg will present “The Case vs. the Coach.” Greenberg has been practicing law for more than four decades and founded the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University Law School.
Singer/songwriter Carmen Nickerson will perform on Sunday, May 31, 2 p.m.
