Council gives grants for two projects of Jewish interest

The Wisconsin Humanities Council recently announced that it has awarded grants, including two for programs of Jewish community interest, according to its Humanities Booyah online newsletter.

It gave $2,000 to Lawrence University in Appleton toward an exhibition and programing about “The Collages of Miriam Beerman.”

Beerman was a Jewish painter and mixed media artist whose work will be featured at the university in October and November.

The council also gave $1,800 to the Jewish Museum Milwaukee toward a program in collaboration with Arts@Large on the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

This project complements the JMM summer exhibit “Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American.”
