SCC offerings include music, culture, food

          Sarah Chudnow Community programs for April will begin with music presented by RUACH, Inc., the Jewish arts and arts education program.

          Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra principal clarinetist Todd Levy and pianist Jeannie Yu will perform on Sunday, April 12, 2 p.m. The duo will be performing Jewish-related works by Leonard Bernstein, Gerald Finzi and Béla Kovács.

          Rabbi Steve Adams of Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha continues his monthly lecture series “Jews of Other Countries” on Monday, April 13, 2 p.m. This month’s topic is “Jews of Western Europe.” The series will be held on the second Monday of the month through June 2015.

          Kim Wall, president of Baensch Food Products, will tell the history and story of Ma Baensch Herring on Thursday, April 16, 2 p.m.

          Milwaukee native and author Lesley Kagan speaks about her career on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. Her first novel, “Whistling in the Dark” (2007), is set in Milwaukee’s Vliet Street neighborhood in the late 1950s.

          To complement its special programming, SCC also offers recurrent monthly programs. On Wednesdays, April 1 and 15, 10:30 a.m., attorney Lori Kornblum, adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School and former assistant district attorney for Milwaukee County, offers legal perspective to some of the more controversial topics of our times. This program occurs every other Wednesday.

          Lisa Gorelick, RN, BS, presents “Healthy Living” on Friday, April 10, 11:15 a.m. She provides a program at SCC the second Friday of every month. If planning on attending, please refrain from wearing fragrances.

          On Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., join parents and their babies (up to two years old) for the “Baby Talk” program. Schmooze with seniors about what it was like raising children in days past and socialize with other parents of young children.
