Remembering through dance

The Milwaukee Ballet Company will be performing its 2004 updated-to-1940s-Europe version of the classic ballet “Giselle” on March 26-29 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Jody Hirsh (standing), Judaic educator at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, met with the company and director Michael Pink (seated at right) in early February to share insights into the Holocaust and Jewish ghetto life and culture, which are not directly portrayed in the ballet but are suggested. The production is presented in honor of Shirley Kritzik. Photo provided by Leslie Rivers/Milwaukee Ballet.
