The Jewish Museum Milwaukee will be presenting several programs on subjects related to its current exhibit “Stitching History from the Holocaust.”
“Czech Fashion Industry and Trends in the 1930s” will be discussed at a lecture and luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 4, 11:30 a.m. Beverly Gordon, professor emerita of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Art and Design, will speak.
Cost of $12 for members and $15 for non-members includes a box lunch (dietary laws observed). To attend the lecture alone costs $5 for members, $8 for non-members. RSVP deadline is Dec. 2.
A “Fabric Flower Making Art Demonstration and Workshop” will take place Sunday, Dec. 7, 1 p.m.
Miranda Levy, an accomplished artist and designer who appeared on Season 12 of Lifetime’s “Project Runway,” will lead a demonstration and interactive workshop on creating fabric roses. This is an inter-generational program and all ages are welcome.
Cost is $5 for all individuals as well as member families (up to three children under age 12); $10 for non-member families (up to three children under 12). RSVP deadline is Dec. 4.
The JMM will provide “Christmas Day Movies & Popcorn” on Thursday, Dec. 25, noon to 4 p.m. Featured films will be “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Casablanca.” Cost is free with museum admission.
The museum will present a concert of “Lost Voices of Theresienstadt” with members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Jan. 4, 1 p.m., in the Rubenstein Pavilion of Chai Point.
The program will feature works composed by musicians interned at concentration camps, Holocaust survivors and others concerned with preserving memory of the event. This program has been developed with and is co-sponsored by the MSO.
Cost is $10 for members, $18 for non-members. RSVP deadline is Dec. 30.
