The Nov. 13 issue of the Shepherd Express free alternative weekly newspaper contained its 2014 listings of the “Best of Milwaukee.”
Barbara Beckert was named the best local activist. She has been the director of the Milwaukee office of Disability Rights Wisconsin since 2008.
She is a former assistant director of the Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations, the ancestor organization of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation; and former director of the Jewish Community Mental Health Education Project for Jewish Family Services.
