The University of Wisconsin-Madison will hold a “Mosse Fest” celebrating the legacy of George L. Mosse (1918-1999), cultural historian and teacher.
It is scheduled to take place Monday, Nov. 17, and Tuesday, Nov. 18, both at 7 p.m., at The Fluno Center, 601 University Ave. in Madison.
The programs will feature video and audio interviews; excerpts from Mosse’s lectures recorded by WHA’s “University of the Air” in the 1960s and early 1980s; and presentations by former Mosse students Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, and historian Paul Buhle.
Graphic artist and former Mosse student Nick Thorkelson will round out the events with a presentation of his graphic format memories of Mosse and Madison, titled “You Had to be There: George Mosse Finds Himself in History.”
The event is sponsored by the George L. Mosse Program and UW Continuing Studies, and co-sponsored by the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies and the UW-Madison Libraries.
