Her mother’s history

Author and journalist Helen Epstein spoke about her book “Where She Came From: A Daughter’s Search for Her Mother’s History” (1997) on Oct. 7 at the Helfaer Community Services Building. Her appearance was in conjunction with the Jewish Museum Milwaukee exhibit “Stitching History from the Holocaust.” Hedwig Strnad, the focus of the exhibit, and Epstein’s mother were both fashion designers and clothing-makers.
