Chai Point Senior Living and the Jewish Home and Care Center will be participating in a “Campaign for the Brain” in November.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, 1-4 p.m., the facilities will host their second annual “Brain Health Fair.” Private memory screenings will be offered. Participants will be able to learn about brain healthy foods, social activities, caregiving information, mental and physical activities and many more topics.
In conjunction with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Creative Trust, residents will have the opportunity to collaborate with UWM students in an exploration of the novel “Little Women” and the changing roles of women throughout American history through a series of workshops.
The first of two “Beyond ‘Little Women’” workshops is on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 3 p.m. It will ask the questions: “What does it mean to be a lady? Or a gentleman?” and “How has this changed over the years?”
The second workshop on Thursday, Nov. 6, 3 p.m., focuses on the March sisters’ emergence from childhood to adulthood. Participants will write their own short stories capturing their own “dreams of becoming.” The creative efforts from these workshops will yield an original play, “Slightly Bigger Women,” to debut in April 2015.
The Creative Trust returns with the “Down at the Schoolyard” workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. Participants will be able to share their experiences with school and life-long learning.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2:30 p.m., all are invited to a meet and greet with the new emissary from Israel to Milwaukee, Amit Yaniv-Zehavi.
Kari Knox, wellness coordinator, presents “Boost Your Brain Power” on Thursday, Nov. 13, 1:30 p.m.
The Good Vibes Trio will perform on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2 p.m. Their repertoire includes jazz tunes and their original music.
