Music, art highlight SCC programs

          Sundays in September bring a variety of musical performances to Sarah Chudnow Community.

          On Sept. 7 at 2 p.m., Tom Stanfield performs. His multi-instrumental talents and soothing melodies promise to create an atmosphere ideal for relaxing and enjoyable performance.

          The following Sunday, Sept. 14, songstress Julie Thompson performs at 2 p.m.

          On Sunday, Sept. 21, 2 p.m., musician Terry Morgenroth presents “Musical Memories of the 40s, 50s and 60s.”

          Pianist Jack Zaffiro closes out the month’s musical offerings with a performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.

          Lou Probst is the featured artist for SCC’s Senior Artist Series. His exhibition kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 15, 1 p.m., in the Second Floor Art Gallery, with an artist’s reception immediately following from 2-4 p.m. in Posner Town Square. His work will be on display through mid-October.

          Flutist and educator Rick Aaron presents a three-part lecture series entitled “Jews of Broadway” beginning Friday, Sept. 5, 10:30 a.m. His lecture will touch upon the careers of Broadway legends including Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. Parts two and three of the series take place on Fridays, Sept. 12 and 19, at 10:30 a.m.
