The several known Wisconsinites who were in Israel during the crisis month of July included Cantors David Barash of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Lauren Phillips of Congregation Sinai.
They were there for the mission of the American Conference of Cantors, the Reform movement’s cantorial organization, July 1-8, according to Barash’s report in his synagogue’s monthly bulletin for August, “Ha-Kol” (“The Voice”).
Barash wrote that the activities included a concert/evening service in Tel Aviv on July 2 in which he and Phillips participated.
