Milwaukee’s Jewish Family Services is planning to hold its annual Luncheon of Champions on Tuesday, May 20, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.
The agency will recognize the community involvement of Marianne and Sheldon Lubar and of members of the next generation of the Lubar family.
Sheldon Lubar is founder and chair of Lubar & Co., a private investment firm, and has held governmental appointments. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Business School has been renamed the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business in his honor.
Marianne Lubar’s service has included the Jewish Museum Milwaukee (founding president), the Milwaukee Jewish Federation (past board member) and the Milwaukee Jewish Historical Society.
Kris Lubar MacDonald has chaired the Minneapolis Jewish Federation. In addition, she has served as a board member of Jewish Federations of North America and National Women’s Philanthropy and is currently a board member of the Sabes JCC and a member of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s executive committee.
David Lubar serves as president/CEO of Lubar & Co., and is a member of the board of directors of numerous public and private companies in the Milwaukee area. He also serves on many community boards, including the Milwaukee Jewish Federation (former chair) and the Jewish Community Foundation (former chairman). His wife, Madeleine, chaired the capital campaign to renovate Congregation Sinai.
Susan Lubar Solvang is president of Growing Minds, a non-profit she founded. In addition, she serves on the board of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
Joan Lubar chairs Women’s Philanthropy of the MJF. She serves on many committees and boards.
Event co-chairs are Gerry Biller and Marlene Lauwasser. The event is open to the community.
