The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center will host a “mini-institute” of the Greenfield Summer Institute on Wednesday, May 21, 7 p.m., and Thursday, May 22, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
The events will be a collaboration between the JCC and the GSI of the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The May 21 event will present a discussion of “Jewish Madison in the 1960s,” featuring Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, jazz pianist-composer and Jewish music authority Ben Sidran and social worker Jane Brotman. Admission is free.
On May 22, the JCC and GSI will present lectures in which UW-Madison professors discuss aspects of the overall theme “Jews and Their Neighbors.” Admission to this series is $18 and includes an Israeli-style lunch.
