Temple Beth El in Madison is one of the North American Reform congregations participating in the new Israel Engagement Initiative developed by the Shalom Hartman Institute and the Union for Reform Judaism.
The partnership was announced at the URJ biennial meeting in San Diego this past December. According to the website iengage.org, the URJ will select 30 congregations to participate in the first stage of this initiative.
A group of 19 congregations was named in March. In addition to Beth El, the others range from Hawaii to British Columbia to New York City.
