Jews and utopian thought is topic of symposium

          The George L. Mosse/Laurence A. Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will host a symposium on “The Messianic Impulse: Jews and Utopian Thought in Modern Europe.”

          The event is scheduled to take place Tuesday, March 25, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at the university’s Union South, 1308 Dayton St., Madison.

          Speakers will be Michael Löwy, French-Brazilian sociologist and philosopher, Sarah Hammerschlag of the University of Chicago Divinity School, Jack Jacobs of John Jay College and Eugene R. Sheppard of Brandeis University.
