HERC, JCC slate series on ‘Children of Nazis’

          The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center are presenting a Holocaust Educational Series “Children of Nazis: Coping With the Legacy of the Third Reich.”

          The series begins Wednesday, March 12, 7 p.m. with the film “Lore.” (See JCC film classes below.)

          On Wednesday, March 19, 2 p.m., the series will present discussion of the book “A Tale of Two Soldiers: The Unexpected Friendship between a WWII American Sniper and a German Military Pilot” by Max Gendelman. Nina G. Edelman will discuss her father’s memoir in this free talk and reception.

          A film class is scheduled for Sunday, March 23, 4 p.m. on “Hitler’s Children: Sons and Daughters of the Leaders of the Third Reich Talk about their Fathers and Themselves.” (See JCC film classes below.)

          The keynote lecture of the series is scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 3 p.m. It is titled “A German Life: Against All Odds, Change is Possible.”

          Author and lecturer Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger, son of a tank commander in the Nazi German army, will tell how after learning of his father’s past, he moved to Israel, converted to Judaism and served in the Israel Defense Force.
