Jonathan Brostoff of Milwaukee in December announced his candidacy for the State Assembly, representing the 19th District. The seat is currently held by Jon Richards, who will be running for attorney general.
Brostoff is one of four announced Democrats seeking the seat, the others (to date) being Milwaukee County Board Chair Marina Dimitrijevic and attorneys Sara Geenen and Dan Adams.
Brostoff has been a Democratic Party activist since college and serves as district office manager for State Sen. Chris Larson.
He was profiled in The Chronicle (Oct. 14, 2005) when he was a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he majored in political science and where he was co-president of the Campus Organization for Israel. He is also a veteran of AmeriCorps and was involved with Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee.
The district includes Milwaukee’s East Side, Bay View, the Historic Third Ward and parts of Riverwest. The primary election will take place Aug. 12, the general election Nov. 4.
