Pens and players featured at SCC

          The Sarah Chudnow Community, 10995 N. Market St. in Mequon, will include the story of writing tools and two concerts among its diverse offerings for January.

          Larry Ladin will present “Can I Borrow Your Pen? The History of Writing Instruments” on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2 p.m. Ladin has collected an assortment of writinginstruments, valued from $5 to $1500,including quills, fountain pens, ball point pens, contemporary pens, pens from the 50s and60s and more.

          On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2 p.m., tenor Jerry Zelm will perform hits of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Perry Como and others from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

          Israel emissaries to Milwaukee Ro’ee and Michal Peled on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2 p.m., will present the film “Israel Inside: How a Small Nation Makes a Big Difference” (2011) followed by a discussion.

          On Sunday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m., musician Don Weast performs the great jazz standards.
