Nonken to perform at UWM festival

          Renowned contemporary music pianist and Milwaukee native Marilyn Nonken will be one of the featured performers in the “Unruly Music” festival at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Oct. 3-5.

          She will present a program of solo piano works on Thursday, Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m., at the UWM Music Recital Hall, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. Her recital will feature composers associated with the French school of “Spectral Music,” including Tristan Murail, Hugues Dufourt and Joshua Fineberg.

          Nonken is associate professor of music and music education at New York University. Her most recent recording, “Vox Voileés,” was released in September and includes some of the works she will perform in Milwaukee.
